NORTH DAKOTA are doing this month!
Ashley:
During October our club contributed to our local community with a few service projects. We helped our local Lions club clean highway ditches one evening and also helped out at our town’s Oktoberfest celebration activities. We completed a food drive for our school’s new backpack food bank program, in which we collected non-perishable food that students have access to for over the weekend. With some funds we raised during that food and supply drive we plan to purchase hats and mittens for kids in need.
A couple fundraisers we did during October included 50/50 raffle and selling boo gram (suckers) Halloween week.
The first week of October, our officer team attended the ND Fall Leadership Conference in Bismarck and had a great time. The officer’s enjoyed the sessions and were excited the conference was in-person!
BOWBELLS:
During the month of October, the officers attended the Fall Leadership Conference. The Bowbells FBLA chapter decided to have a pancake breakfast/bake sale and will execute that plan in November. Each member is required to bring two different kinds of bars and an item like griddles or roasters that we could use to make the food items that we are planning to have at the breakfast.
CARRINGTON:
During the month of October, the Carrington Chapter had an officer meeting where we planned our all-member meeting and our activities for October. These activities included serving breakfast at the all-member meeting, creating a pumpkin carving contest where carvings were submitted to our social media, and we had t-shirt days that got members excited to participate. We also completed the champion chapter.
DIVIDE COUNTY:
Divide County finished up with football and volleyball concessions during October. Members sold and delivered over 1,500 Ole and Lena Pizzeria items along with 300 bags of popcorn for their fundraisers to pay for state conference. Sixteen members and officers attended the ND FLC in Bismarck and brought back many ideas for the chapter members. Work nights were held every Wednesday to work on the Contributor and LEAD award levels. FBLA members put together a virtual Career Fair for students that took place on October 19. Several members have begun the Virtual Business Challenges and LifeSmarts. The Shaping Success Application was submitted.
DRAKE-ANAMOOSE:
We focused on getting ready for our market day that we are doing on November 15th. We kept our food pantry stocked. We had an FBLA spirit day where all the members wore blue or red, or FBLA apparel. We also had a breakfast meeting there was discussed our market day, market day activity, parliamentary procedures, and had a buddy up activity. We have been staying busy running our coffee shop every Wednesday lunch and every Friday morning.
DRAKE-ANAMOOSE MIDDLE LEVEL:
This month we have continued working at concessions at home games and we haver worked at D-A perks. We did an ice breaker at our meeting this month and we discussed our market day activities at our meeting.
ENDERLIN:
In October the Enderlin Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America had two officers attend the Fall Leadership conference. We also co-hosted a blood drive with our honor society. 39 people were able to donate blood. We had a meeting every Thursday. Sometime for just officers and sometimes for all members. Today we submitted our Shaping Success activities.
FARGO NORTH:
This month our chapter carved pumpkins for our first social of the month!
GRAND FORKS CENTRAL:
At our officer meeting in early October, we planned for our annual Halloween party with DECA within our school. This party will have engaging activities for the DECA and FBLA members to compete with each other to form a bond between the members of the two organizations to help both increase membership. We have been working on recruitment and have over 13 paid members so far. The chapter officers attended the Fall Leadership Conference. Our very own officer, Hanson Du, was elected to the National Secretary’s Executive Council. Our president attended the VP Voices meeting and addressed what he learned from the meeting with our members.
GRAND FORKS RED RIVER:
Earlier in the month, three senior members of the Red River High School Chapter went to the Fall Leadership conference. We had a ton of fun at the events and breakout sessions, and enjoyed some delicious Buffalo Wild Wings Sunday night. We even took a snack run and watched Shark Tank before lights out! Then it came time to select officers, and conveniently enough, all three ladies that went to the conference continued to or started to be officers. We all agree that our experiences at the conference will help us succeed in our positions and planning to Go for Silver this year. Towards the end of October we held an FBLA Halloween Party, with spooky orange floats, chocolate dipped pretzels, candy corn, and of course plenty of candy. We played a game called Blooket and it was a big hit! The Halloween trivia topic was really interesting and we had some friendly competition out of it. All and all, we had a fun and successful month with tons of team bonding, learning, and of course food!
HATTON/NORTHWOOD:
Hatton/Northwood was busy completing the Champion Chapter. We completed all the requirements. We have been diligently working on adding new members with recruitment drives. We have 8 new members. Working on our Project Awareness with FCCLA and the School Counselor. It is Red Ribbon Week. Students have a great start on BAA’s, doing well in the Stock Market Game State and National. Working on American Enterprise day and March of Dimes Day. Working on our projects with Partnership with a business and Community Service projects.
LARIMORE:
Our Chapter has been very busy promoting the Larimore Public Schools Core Values. The Core Values are Pride, Respect, Communication and Commitment. Our Projects from the start of the school year until now have promoted these Core Values. We have conducted all Fall Concessions for our School which included volleyball, football and 5th and 6th Grade Boys and Girls Basketball events. Managing the Fall Concessions takes a large commitment from our members. Our members have conducted monthly Bingo’s for our student-body and staff. In September the Bingo was a regular bingo and in October the Bingo was called “How Well Do You Know The LHS Staff”. FBLA purchases prizes for the first three winners each month. We will continue to provided bingo once a month over Teams during our Home Room. We feel that this demonstrates School Pride to keep our student body involved and making them aware of activities of our FBLA Chapter. We began a Chapter Newsletter last year and it is being produced monthly by our Chapter Historian Sadie Aamodt. She designs and distributes the newsletter to FBLA members, LHS and our community to allow for good communications about Larimore High School FBLA Chapter #2189. We were asked by Choice Bank to produce a video for the employees pertaining to Open Enrollment Benefits. Three of our members worked with Jess Lupkes-VP of HR and Torrie Syverson-Manager of Benefits of Choice Bank to produce a video that will be launched to their employees. Jess Lupkes will be attending a recognition program at LHS to present appreciation gifts to our three members. I feel our members respectfully worked with Choice Bank employees to get the task completed! Our FBLA Chapter is respected and can be counted on to get tasks completed. In September, our Chapter distributed free soft-serve ice cream cones to all students and staff for the “Do Something Nice Day”. In October our Chapter sponsored a “Guess the Pumpkin Weights” and awarded gift cards to our local coffee shop to promote their new business. Our Chapter has several projects planned for the upcoming months including visiting with our students in Grades 5 and 6 to familiarize them with FBLA. Our membership had declined and our officers decided they wanted all students to be aware of FBLA so our focus right now is making students aware of FBLA and the many opportunities to be involved in FBLA. Our Chapter President and Vice President recently designed our a local chapter hoodie that will be sold at cost to our members promoting the “Success Starts Here” theme.
MANDAN:
FBLA students participated in the Trick or Treat for Canned Goods Monday, October 18th and October 25th. Students went into the community and collected canned goods to our local food pantry. FBLA and other student organizations collected 1,368 canned goods.
MAY PORT-CG:
On October 3rd and 4th, the MPCG FBLA officers, along with new elected Middle Level Officers, attended the Fall Leadership Conference. Along with other chapters throughout the state. Ilanora Peterson, our very own chapter Social Media Coordinator, was one of the many leaders of the conference, as she is Region IV Vice President. The May-PortCG FBLA chapter held its monthly meeting Thursday October 7th. During the meeting members spent time brainstorming for future projects and chapter activities in small, rotating groups. Several members also began competing in Stock Market Game, Virtual Business Challenge, and Lifesmarts.
NEDROSE:
Nedrose FBLA was busy during the month of October. Our chapter officers and adviser attended FLC to kickstart the month. We were excited to bring back information learned to our other chapter members.
We had a chapter work day on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Chapter members worked to get signed up and work on BAAs, as well as get registered to compete in LifeSmarts, Virtual Business Challenges, and the Fall Stock Market Game. Chapter members also worked to plan what activities to work on completing for Shaping Success Champion Chapter Challenge. We also enjoyed sweets, pizza, and soda while we worked.
Lastly, we teamed up with our local FFA Chapter to help in putting on a Haunted Game Night at the elementary school on Friday, October 29th. Those who attended dressed in their costumes and purchased tickets to play a variety of games. FBLA members where in charge of serving concessions at the event where we raised approximately $200.
RAY:
Went to Fall Leadership Conference, sold football booklets. Sold gear for our school.
STANLEY:
Stanley FBLA started out the month of October attending the State Fall Leadership Conference. We included a special chapter outing to Applebee’s where members could hang out and get to know each other. We were able to bring Middle Level members again this year which was exciting!
FBLA had our regular chapter meetings during the month. At one of the meetings, we made tie blankets for social services in our town. We finished those up the next day during business classes. We also helped with the community event called Nerf and Treat. We helped set up October 28 at the Fair Building in Stanley. About 20 members helped throughout this whole process. On the 29th, we had a table at this event and handed out candy and painted faces and gave fake tattoos. It was a lot of fun to be involved in the community and something that included a lot of membership involvement.
Our chapter also started our first fundraiser for the year and completed the requirements for the Chapter Challenge Shaping Success. We are hoping to be a Gold Champion Chapter this year.
TIOGA:
Tioga’s FBLA chapter started off the month of October by having our officers attend the Fall Leadership Conference in Bismarck, ND. The officers listened to a key speaker, attended workshops, and bonded as an officer team.
Our members have also had three opportunities to gain volunteer experience. First, they spent an evening helping with the Pheasants Forever Banquet. Second, they helped serve pancakes at the Tioga airport fly in/drive in breakfast after which two members had the amazing opportunity to get to fly in an airplane. Finally, they went to Hygge Hills to manage carnival games for a Partnership with Business project.
They have also been busy working on Champion Chapter activities and Business Achievement Awards. They were fortunate to be able to buddy up and write holiday cards to military members expressing their gratitude, while enjoying breakfast as a chapter. Finally, as a chapter they were also able to enjoy making their own FBLA shirts together and can’t wait to show them off at the conference.
